Hello! My name is Ward Boeckx, and I am a passionate working student at Thomas More, where I specialize in cloud and cybersecurity.

Alongside my studies, I work as a helpdesk technician at the IT department of the City of Geel, here i'm responsible for troubleshooting technical issues and providing support to users.

Four years ago, I made the decision to switch careers to the IT sector. A choice driven by my strong interest in technology and my desire to work in a dynamic, future-oriented field. It was an exciting step, and one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Besides technical skills, I bring strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and a calm, helpful attitude when dealing with users.

From January 30th to May 29th, I completed a 13-week internship at KBC in Leuven. KBC is a major Belgian bank and insurance group, founded in Belgium and primarily active in Central and Eastern Europe. It offers a wide range of financial services including retail banking, asset management, and corporate banking.

During my internship, I joined the Offensive Security Team, a specialized internal team within KBC responsible for conducting penetration tests and simulating cyberattacks in order to proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.

Here I was given the opportunity to follow the entire process of a penetration test, which I was allowed to carry out on KBC Touch, the bank's online banking application. This gave me valuable hands-on experience with real-world application security in a production-like environment.
